The intern will work closely with Gorton&#8217;s Theater Manager and Technical Production Manager to gain hands-on experience across all areas of live production, including lighting, sound, projection, and stage operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This internship is ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in theater production, technical theater, recording technology, or a related field who wants real-world experience supporting professional productions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning about and assisting with operating lighting, sound, and projection equipment for productions and performances<\/li>\n<li>Working directly with the Technical Production Manager on projects and productions<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with equipment inventory, repair, and maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with production set-up, load-ins, load-outs, and design<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with daily maintenance tasks<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with research, archival, and documentation<\/li>\n<li>Supporting special projects as assigned<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with house monitoring, safety\/security, and front-of-house coordination as needed<\/li>\n<li>Performing other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Position Details<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Location Type:<\/strong> Onsite\u00a0<strong>Onsite Location:<\/strong> Lake Forest, Illinois, United States<\/p>\n<h2>Time Requirements<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong> Part-time, seasonal\u00a0<strong>Total Hours:<\/strong> 150 hours over the course of the internship\u00a0<strong>Typical Weekly Hours:<\/strong> Approximately 10\u201315 hours per week (hours will vary week to week depending on production and performance schedules, and will be communicated in advance)\u00a0<strong>Employment Duration:<\/strong> Temporary\/seasonal\u00a0<strong>Availability:<\/strong> Evening and weekend availability required, based on event schedule<\/p>\n<h2>Compensation and Benefits<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $2,250 stipend for the internship\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Candidate Qualifications<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Work Authorization:<\/strong> This position requires US work authorization<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required\/Preferred Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic knowledge of live sound engineering and\/or lighting<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of architectural lighting or sound, digital cinema projection, and\/or stage construction<\/li>\n<li>Aptitude for hardware and software technology<\/li>\n<li>Troubleshooting skills<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of hand and power tools<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently on projects; self-starter<\/li>\n<li>Detail-oriented and organized<\/li>\n<li>Effective written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, alone or with assistance<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to learn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Actively pursuing an Associate&#8217;s degree or higher in theater production, technical theater, recording technology, lighting, or a related field<\/li>\n<li>School Year: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior preferred<\/li>\n<li>Major Groups: Visual &amp; Performing Arts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience in theater production preferred (equipment operation, live production, or related coursework)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Apply<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates should submit applications through Handshake.
