The fall, 20-hour-a-week internship is open to candidates interested in news reporting, photography or videography. It is based in Des Moines. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will have some experience in journalism, in school or in a professional setting. They will be able to work 20 hours per week in a high-pressure newsroom setting. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program details:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10 weeks (targeted start date: Sept. 14)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Hourly rate is $18.00\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>20-hours per week (some flexibility in setting which hours are worked)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>There will be rolling application reviews through Aug. 31. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gain hands-on experience in:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Covering news and enterprise\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Guidance from veteran editors\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Working Election Day\/night and with the politics team in the days leading up to Nov. 3\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Work will be published in the Des Moines Register and desmoinesregister.com\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research and gather information from various sources\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Produce written and multimedia content<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate in brainstorming sessions \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrolled in or recently graduated from an Iowa college or university program (junior year or beyond preferred)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with newswriting style\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Critical thinking, adaptability, and attention to detail\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This role requires a valid driver\u2019s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Availability for some evening and weekend work \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This is a Des Moines-based internship. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Instructions:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role.
