Ensures appropriate counseling of patients regarding their medications.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in\u00a0MercyOne\u00a0Dubuque Medical Center&#8217;s Model of Caring and Trinity Health&#8217;s Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent with\u00a0MercyOne\u00a0Dubuque Medical Center&#8217;s Mission and Values.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health\u2019s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures\u00a0to\u00a0ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Accepts responsibility for the timely and accurate preparation of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, using accepted procedures to fulfill prescription orders issued by physicians, dentists, and other qualified providers\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Communicates effectively with colleagues and customers alike, being a good listener and adjusting style as needed\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Represents\u00a0MercyOne\u00a0Pharmacies in a courteous, friendly, and caring manner\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Performs duties with flexibility, adapting to changing schedules and needs of the customers, prioritizing workload accordingly\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Counsels\u2019 patients receiving prescription medications, non-prescription medications, devices and supplies, as appropriate while protecting their health and drug information.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provides information to medical staff concerning all aspects of clinical pharmaceutical information pertaining to the patients care and well-being, keeping in mind the\u00a0confidential nature of such information and communication.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Monitors patient medication therapy for pharmaceutical care parameters and documents (as\u00a0required) the appropriate findings, recommendations, interventions and outcomes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintains positive behaviors, approaches, attitude, and commitment to interpersonal service\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 toward patients, visitors, customers and co-workers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to pharmaceutical services\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Shares in the \u201con-call\u201d and weekend rotation responsibilities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Adheres to all state and federal laws surrounding the appropriate security and control of and dispensing of medications.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assists in training and continued development of technicians, pharmacy support staff, pharmacy residents, students and interns.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assists in inventory maintenance, ensuring appropriate inventory levels, ordering, and security of inventory including CII perpetual inventory logs and yearly inventory counts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Actively participates in quality and problem-solving activities with other pharmacy staff and other hospital departments.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional\/job-related growth and development and participates in medical center and\/or departmental education programs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.\u00a0 Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, team lead or pharmacy director.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of the requirements for a B.S. or PharmD in Pharmacy at an accredited college of pharmacy is required.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A current State of Iowa Pharmacist license.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of continuing education credits every 2 years as required by the Iowa State Board of Pharmacy.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Previous practical experience in a retail or ambulatory care pharmacy is\u00a0preferred.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Certification in Immunization Administration is preferred.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years
