ACC welcomes national\u00a0applicants, but\u00a0also emphasizes the engagement of local individuals who\u00a0represent\u00a0the communities in which they serve.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chesapeake Bay Gateways and\u00a0Watertrails\u00a0(NPS Chesapeake Gateways) is a partnership park statutorily directed by the Chesapeake Bay Initiative Act of 1998 to create, support, and invest in the Chesapeake Gateways Network. The Network is a system of over 300 public and private sector places, experiences, and communities in six states and Washington, D.C. within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. NPS Chesapeake Gateways invests in the Network through National Recreation &amp; Preservation funding and full-time National Park Service\u00a0expertise, as directed by Congress. Headquartered in Annapolis, MD,\u00a0NPS\u00a0Chesapeake Gateways has five core functions to\u00a0convene, promote, support, and invest in the Network.\u00a0 The Chesapeake Gateways Network Framework guides the NPS, grounding the Network\u2019s operations in its core functions as directed by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Appalachian Conservation Corps and the National Park Service are seeking a Chesapeake Gateways Ambassador to work\u00a0with National Park Service staff to work on projects to specifically support promotion of visitor experiences throughout the Chesapeake Gateways Network through digital and print resources. The\u00a0member\u00a0will review, develop, and implement processes to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0partnership communications and training and\u00a0assist\u00a0in the overall efforts to\u00a0assist\u00a0Chesapeake Gateways Places and Experiences in engaging visitors to the Chesapeake watershed.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0member\u00a0will complete two weeks of formal training at the NPS Chesapeake Gateways office to learn basic operations, skills in interpretation, and the natural\/cultural resource stories that guide our collective work. In addition to the standard training curriculum, the\u00a0member\u00a0will\u00a0participate\u00a0in self-paced digital media training specific to the National Park Service. The\u00a0member\u00a0will work with the park\u2019s visitor experience team to research and write\u00a0digital media content, highlighting Chesapeake Gateways Places and Experiences. They will also\u00a0participate\u00a0in a strategic development planning process to help guide the future of the park\u2019s social media strategy. After working at Chesapeake Gateways for several months, the\u00a0member\u00a0will independently create or co-create content with partners for the park\u2019s website.\u00a0This content development will include written content, as well as audio visual elements. \u00a0The\u00a0member\u00a0may\u00a0assist\u00a0with other interpretive media projects including\u00a0signage,\u00a0and brochures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community engagement and outreach, especially activating young people to move from digital engagement to onsite stewardship.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Preparing and publishing content focused on at least one of the NPS Chesapeake Gateways themes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Creating, editing, and publishing content for multiple print and digital platforms including websites, mobile apps, social media, publications, newspapers, magazines, and more.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Developing digital interpretative experiences at Chesapeake Gateways Places.<\/li>\n<li>Develop common interpretive content that can be readily adapted and customized for use at individual sites, including thematic interpretive products, such as interpretive signage.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Link culture and nature through interpretation, education, messaging, and initiatives.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities to\u00a0participate\u00a0in a variety of activities and projects related to the mission of the National Park Service depending on interest areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Housing is\u00a0<u>not<\/u>\u00a0provided.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These positions are full-time,\u00a040 hours\/week.<\/li>\n<li>This position is expected to serve Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. A half hour lunch break will not be counted towards AmeriCorps service.<\/li>\n<li>Member\u00a0will have most federal holidays off but may be expected to work holidays during the busy summer season.<\/li>\n<li>Member\u00a0may\u00a0be required\u00a0to\u00a0participate\u00a0in national, state, or local service projects or events as part of their service term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$760 week stipend paid bi-weekly\u00a0($600 living stipend + $160\u00a0additional\u00a0member benefit)<\/li>\n<li>$7,395\u00a0AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of\u00a01700 hour\u00a0service term\u00a0(award\u00a0amount\u00a0varies\u00a0based on\u00a0length of\u00a0commitment\u00a0and\u00a0can be used for paying off federal student loans or paying tuition for a Title IV accredited college)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Option to enroll in free Health, Vision, Mental\u00a0Health\u00a0and Dental benefits<\/li>\n<li>$1250\u00a0professional development fund for certifications, trainings, conferences, and travel reimbursements<\/li>\n<li>Paid\u00a0leave<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility for the Public Land Corps Hiring Authority upon successful completion \u2013 noncompetitive hiring status for two years when applying for federal positions.<\/li>\n<li>Possible\u00a0federal student loan forbearance\u00a0and interest payoff<\/li>\n<li>Member Assistance Program\u00a0\u2013 3 free sessions of support with a counseling or work-life balance specialist\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Depending upon the academic\u00a0institution and program,\u00a0positions may\u00a0fulfill Internship requirements\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Professional development opportunities\u00a0(mentorship, resume support, alumni\u00a0listserv, etc.) and exposure to natural resource career paths\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some college course work completed in Communications, History, Public Affairs, Public Speaking, or other related subjects<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in public facing roles and customer service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum\u00a0Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for this AmeriCorps position, you must be between the ages of 21 and 30, and a US citizen that has received a high school diploma or GED. All offers of employment are conditional upon completion of an acceptable check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry and federal criminal background check.
