Learn more about HHS and each of these divisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Job Summary<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is an administrative\/management position responsible for coordination of operations at the Homeless Services Center. The candidate hired into this position will be responsible for implementing established policies, as well as working closely with Division leadership on researching and executing best practice models. This person will assist with special projects that contribute to the City\u2019s Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness. A successful candidate in this position will have experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff as a large portion of this role will provide support in these areas to shelter staff and shelter supervisors.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Responsible for scheduling, approving time off requests and following established overtime procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Oversight of overall shelter operations, including compliance and ADA regulations, reviewing client grievances and restrictions, and ensuring overall consistency of services.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Completes monthly statistical reports and data quality entry into Service Point (HMIS).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supervise General Assistance billing for the shelter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Collaborate with the Housing and Community Services Coordinator to assist clients in connections to needed services.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Represent division programs within the City of Portland.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Required Skills &amp; Experience:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in the area of Human Services, experience in Social Services including supervisory experience in a homeless shelter or homeless service program experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience with Service Point or equivalent HMIS systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge of local homeless resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience supervising a diverse staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proven skills in crisis management.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience working with a diverse community population including chronically mentally ill, physically disabled and substance addicted populations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to work flexible hours as needed and participating in an on-call rotation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Expected Hours\/Schedule:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Full Time (37.5 hrs.), permanent position, Wednesday through Friday 7:00am &#8211; 5:00pm &amp; Saturday 8:00am &#8211; 7:30pm<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Applications accepted until July 17, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Salary &amp; Benefits:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a non union position, Grade C41, with a starting salary of $71,429.00 annually.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The City of Portland prides itself on its outstanding benefits and collegial and mission-driven work environment.<\/p>\n<p>City benefits include:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Free employee health insurance with the completion of wellness incentives<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Thirteen paid holidays<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sick, vacation, and personal leave<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Life, dental, vision and income protection insurances<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Choice of retirement plans, including a pension plan<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Use of City recreation facilities<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fitness Reimbursement<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Discount on professional development programs through USM and Thomas College<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions or need assistance with the application, please email Human Resources at jobs@portlandmaine.gov or call 207-874-8624.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The City of Portland believes that to do our best work, our employees need to reflect the diverse, vibrant community we serve.
