Join the <strong>National Mental Health Corps (NMHC)<\/strong> and help expand access to mental health education, resources, and support in your community.<\/p>\n<p>As an AmeriCorps Volunteer, you&#8217;ll gain hands-on experience in mental health programming, community outreach, event coordination, and partnership development while helping your host site strengthen local mental health services. Whether you&#8217;re interested in nonprofit work, public health, social work, psychology, counseling, education, or community engagement, this opportunity provides valuable professional experience while making a lasting impact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You&#8217;ll Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As an NMHC Volunteer, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the implementation of evidence-based mental health programs such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), or other host site initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and assist with community events, workshops, and outreach activities that promote mental wellness and reduce stigma.<\/li>\n<li>Build relationships with community organizations and help connect individuals to local mental health resources.<\/li>\n<li>Create outreach and marketing materials, including social media content, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.<\/li>\n<li>Collect program data and assist with reporting and evaluation to measure community impact.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in professional development, AmeriCorps trainings, and nationally recognized mental health certifications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You&#8217;ll Gain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hands-on experience in mental health, nonprofit, public health, and community engagement.<\/li>\n<li>Nationally recognized certifications, including Adult Mental Health First Aid and QPR.<\/li>\n<li>Professional development, networking, and leadership experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in program planning, outreach, evaluation, and partnership development.<\/li>\n<li>The opportunity to make a meaningful difference while building skills for graduate school or your future career.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re looking for someone who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is passionate about improving mental health and serving their community.<\/li>\n<li>Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoys working independently and as part of a team.<\/li>\n<li>Is organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates professionalism and respect for confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Has experience or interest in psychology, counseling, social work, public health, education, nonprofit work, communications, or related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Meets the educational requirements established by the host site.<\/li>\n<li>Is eligible to serve as an AmeriCorps member.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AmeriCorps Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Full-Time (1,700 hours)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10-month service term<\/li>\n<li>$21,000 living stipend (paid biweekly)<\/li>\n<li>$7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion<\/li>\n<li>Holidays and personal days<\/li>\n<li>Professional training and nationally recognized certifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Part-Time (900 hours)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approximately 10-month service term<\/li>\n<li>$10,500 living stipend (paid biweekly)<\/li>\n<li>$3,697 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion<\/li>\n<li>Holidays and personal days<\/li>\n<li>Professional training and nationally recognized certifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About National Mental Health Corps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Mental Health Corps is leading the charge to solve the mental health workforce crisis by expanding access to mental health education, suicide prevention, and community-based support services.
