Provides medical care and treatment to patients and employees of the facility. Provides consultation to the psychiatrists. Participates actively on medical staff committees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serves as primary care physician for the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center on a secure forensic unit.<\/li>\n<li>Provides consultation to the psychiatrists.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Participates actively on medical staff committees.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provides evaluation and treatment for injured employees.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Participates in all Department of Human Services and Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center mandatory training.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Requires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Requires American Board Certification in the job-related medical specialty of Internal Medicine.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience evaluating the quality of medical care and treatment for individuals with mental illness.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience conducting physical exams of individuals.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience identifying the most appropriate positive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordance with best practices.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conditions of Employment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Requires the possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to meet the requirements of and be appointed to the medical staff association of Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center within 30 days of employment.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to walk and stand for a significant period of time, including stooping, bending, lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to participate in patient management interventions that may include participating in restraint interventions.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to maintain current Basic Life Support Certification.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to testify in court.<\/li>\n<li>Requires the ability to serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) after business hours, weekends and holidays in case of emergency.<\/li>\n<li>Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.<\/li>\n<li>Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*All conditions of employment listed are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Agency:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Illinois Department of Human Services serves families in need across Illinois.
