The Recovery Technician is responsible for performing aseptic surgical recovery of ocular tissue from deceased donors for transplant, research, and education, ensuring compliance with FDA, EBAA, and organizational protocols.\u00a0This role supports recovery operations and cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance and Distribution, Research,\u00a0and contributes to the organization\u2019s mission by\u00a0maintaining\u00a0professionalism in sensitive environments, ensuring\u00a0accurate\u00a0documentation, and\u00a0facilitating\u00a0safe transport of recovered tissue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
Respond promptly to donor notifications and plan for\u00a0timely\u00a0recoveries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Confirm consent documentation and Donor Risk Assessment information.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Perform sterile surgical recovery of ocular tissue using in-situ or enucleation techniques.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Draw and qualify blood samples for serological testing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Perform\u00a0donor\u00a0physical assessments and review medical records for eligibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Label and package tissue and specimens per SOPs for transport to processing labs and consignees.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ship donor blood samples to reference laboratories.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enter donor and\u00a0recovery\u00a0data into approved databases.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maintain compliance with FDA, EBAA, and internal SOP standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Uphold sterile technique and\u00a0high standards\u00a0of safety throughout all procedures.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maintain\u00a0accurate\u00a0documentation and reporting of recovery activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas in compliance with SOPs and work instructions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ensure readiness of instruments and supplies for recovery procedures.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Participate in team meetings and training sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Attend departmental meetings and contribute to performance reviews when\u00a0requested.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ensure\u00a0accurate\u00a0data entry into electronic systems and\u00a0utilize\u00a0digital tools for tissue tracking and compliance reporting.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On-Call Availability: Be available for on-call shifts to respond to urgent recovery requests.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stay updated on changes in FDA\/EBAA standards and\u00a0participate\u00a0in policy updates.\u00a0<\/p>\n
