This program is designed to establish collaborative partnerships with academic institutions, providing invaluable student internship opportunities\u00a0and fostering a seamless transition from graduation to the public health workforce.\u00a0 The fall session will span 12 weeks, running from\u00a0<strong>September 23, 2026 \u2013 December 15, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We invite\u00a0undergraduate and graduate students with a strong academic standing and a specific interest in public health to apply. To accommodate different preferences and circumstances, we offer\u00a0hybrid and in-person internship opportunities.\u00a0During the 12-week period, students can work up to a maximum of 240 hours, averaging approximately 20 hours per week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Our program encompasses various exciting areas of this cohort,\u00a0including Behavioral Sciences, Community Health, Epidemiology, Health Education, Health Informatics, Health Policy, Healthcare Administration, Infectious Disease, Preparedness and\u00a0Response, and Public Health Communications.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To ensure a tailored experience, please complete a supplemental questionnaire that allows you to indicate your preferred subject areas,\u00a0your interest in in-person or hybrid opportunities, and the county or counties where you would like to intern. Rest assured that your application will be reviewed by program managers who\u00a0match the criteria you select.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While students may be considered for multiple openings, please note that selected students will be hired for only one position. We look forward to welcoming talented students like you to our team and contributing to your professional growth\u00a0in the field of public health.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i>**These dates are subject to change.**<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>GRADE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9998<\/p>\n<p><strong>LOCATION OF POSITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Statewide (Multiple Counties throughout Maryland) &#8211; Please indicate your counties of interest on your application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i><strong>Hybrid and fully in-person opportunities may be available.\u00a0 We are not currently offering fully remote opportunities.\u00a0 Interns are responsible for their own housing.<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Purpose of Job<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Interns will be employed in various roles supporting different departments throughout the Maryland Department of Health.\u00a0 Interns will be engaged in various projects that uphold MDH&#8217;s mission to promote and improve the health and safety of all Marylanders through disease prevention, access to care, quality management, and community engagement.\u00a0 Maryland Department of Health is comprised of 5 administrations: Public Health Administration (PHA), Maryland Medicaid Administration (MMA), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), and Operations.\u00a0 All projects within the MDH Public Health Internship Program play an important role in Maryland&#8217;s public health system.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We are currently accepting applications for the following areas listed below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Behavioral Sciences\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Community Health\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Epidemiology\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Health Education\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Health Informatics\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Health Policy\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare Administration\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Infectious Diseases\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Preparedness and Response\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Public Health Communications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Candidates must possess the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>At least 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university with current enrollment in an undergraduate program\u00a0OR\u00a0candidates must be\u00a0currently enrolled in a graduate program.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Must have at least a 2.5 GPA or equivalent.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Recent graduates from an accredited college or university may also apply.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Recent graduates are defined as individuals who have completed a bachelor&#8217;s or master&#8217;s degree from an accredited college or university\u00a0on or after August 1, 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><strong>Transcripts, diplomas, and\/or proof of enrollment must be submitted at time of application.\u00a0 Transcripts may be unofficial.\u00a0 Transcripts or any documentation submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i><strong>Please review the instructions listed at the end of this announcement before submitting your application.<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Online applications are highly recommended.
