Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUMMARY<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0This position\u00a0is responsible for\u00a0assisting\u00a0either refugee or immigrant families with transitioning their children into the public school system.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\u00a0\u00a0Reasonable\u00a0accommodations\u00a0may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\u00a0 <strong><u>This is a Grant Funded position which will end 9\/30\/2026.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Introduces, explains, and provides resources to\u00a0new families\u00a0utilizing\u00a0public schools\u00a0for the first time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Completes\u00a0all\u00a0required\u00a0intake documentation for new clients.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Initiates\u00a0outreach to adults in the refugee or immigrant\u00a0communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Assists\u00a0in enrolling children in school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Advocates for the educational needs of the clients in all school related matters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Educates\u00a0and promotes\u00a0cross cultural understanding and integration into the community and school system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Facilitates\u00a0parent teacher conferences as needed or requested by the school system and\u00a0participates\u00a0in Individual Education Plans as requested by parents or the school system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Makes\u00a0appropriate referrals\u00a0for students to school social\u00a0worker, guidance counselors,\u00a0or mental health personnel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Develops strong working relationships with\u00a0English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)\u00a0teachers and department.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Assists\u00a0with the recruitment, training and monitoring of tutors\u00a0and mentors for students in academic and integration need.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maintain\u00a0accurate\u00a0records and complete reports in\u00a0a timely\u00a0fashion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Represents\u00a0the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population\u2019s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Utilizes\u00a0a basic\u00a0knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATION and\/or EXPERIENCE:\u00a0High School Diploma or equivalent\u00a0required\u00a0with three years of related experience; bachelor\u2019s degree preferred.
