This is an excellent opportunity for students who are either pursuing or are considering pursuing legal careers. The selected student will support the RO\u2019s ongoing docket, develop legal skills, and work directly with attorneys, support staff, and other professionals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting with intakes<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with witness interviews<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with community engagement<\/li>\n<li>Participating in educational presentations<\/li>\n<li>Supporting other outreach efforts that are designed to inform the communities the RO serves<\/li>\n<li>Providing litigation support\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare correspondence;<\/li>\n<li>Electronic litigation file management, including scanning, uploading and updating case files;<\/li>\n<li>Review litigation documents such as summons and complaints, motions, and affidavits;<\/li>\n<li>Review discovery demands received and work closely with attorneys to prepare responses;<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the requests for and the review and redaction of necessary documents to be produced in the litigation;\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Organize exhibits for use at deposition and trial; and<\/li>\n<li>Assist attorneys with trials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Providing eDiscovery support<\/li>\n<li>Searching for documents for deposition preparation and preparing deposition summaries;<\/li>\n<li>Tagging, reviewing and organizing documents for production as well as incoming document production;<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining discovery request logs and tracking what has been received and what is outstanding; and<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating as needed with OAG\u2019s Practice Technologies Group on technical issues.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with legal filings<\/li>\n<li>Cite-checking, formatting and proofreading briefs and other documents;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting searches using Westlaw or Lexis;<\/li>\n<li>Creating tables of contents and tables of authority; and<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with submitting filings.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with research and writing assignments<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with other legal and office support function<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate degree\u00a0program;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational, proofreading, and multitaskingskills;<\/li>\n<li>Strong research and analytical abilities as well as verbal and written communication\u00a0skills;<\/li>\n<li>Proactive with the ability to self-manage assignments and\u00a0deadlines;<\/li>\n<li>Capable of working well both independently and as a member of a team;\u00a0and<\/li>\n<li>Strong technology skills and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and\u00a0Outlook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Skills\/Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who are pursuing degrees in a relevant area of study such as pre-law, legal\/paralegal studies, English, history, political science, public administration, business,\u00a0etc.;<\/li>\n<li>Prior work experience in a legal\u00a0setting; and<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with and experience using legal research and eDiscovery applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fall Program Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>This placement requires in-office work.\u00a0<\/strong>Therefore, applicants must be available to report to 44 South Broadway White Plains, New York on their scheduled workdays.<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>At the time students receive and accept a paid placement offer, they must provide written documentation demonstrating\u00a0they\u00a0are\u00a0full-time\u00a0students in good academic standing as defined by their schools. Applications from students who are starting college\/university during the 2026-27 academic year will not be considered.<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The undergraduate student hired for this placement will work part-time for the fall semester (15 hours\/week for 12 weeks for a total of 180 paid hours).
