This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across credit and noncredit courses, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and supporting the Institute\u2019s mission through academic advising, student mentoring, curriculum development, and leadership of special events. As a key member of the HCAT team, the Instructional Specialist I contributes to the excellence and innovation that defines the program\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>INSTRUCTION:<br \/>\u2022 Deliver in-person and online instruction each term for assigned hospitality courses, including credit, noncredit, open enrollment, and contract-based offerings.<br \/>\u2022 Prepare and maintain relevant course materials to support effective instruction and student learning.<br \/>\u2022 Serve as lead instructor when assigned, overseeing course delivery and coordinating training with part-time faculty to ensure alignment with HCAT standards.<br \/>\u2022 Collaborate with HCAT operations to identify and fulfill product and equipment needs for instructional and event purposes.<\/p>\n<p>CURRICULUM:<br \/>\u2022 Recommend and assist in the development of curriculum updates to ensure relevance and alignment with current standards.<br \/>\u2022 Incorporate curriculum changes as necessary to maintain currency across courses and programs.<br \/>\u2022 Integrate a variety of technologies into the delivery of assigned courses and instructional programs.<br \/>\u2022 Participate in the development and monitoring of:<br \/>o Course and program outcome assessments<br \/>o Digital Accessibility in course content and support resources<br \/>o Curriculum reports<\/p>\n<p>ADMINISTRATIVE:<br \/>\u2022 Prepare and submit projects and all related reports in accordance with established deadlines and directives.<br \/>\u2022 Support and implement designated program goals and objectives, as well as the college\u2019s strategic initiatives within HCAT operations.<br \/>\u2022 Participate in the development of assigned course budgets.<br \/>\u2022 Maintain accountability for operating within the approved budget framework.<br \/>\u2022 Attend all required departmental, divisional, and assigned association meetings as requested.<\/p>\n<p>SPECIAL EVENT MANAGEMENT:<br \/>\u2022 Lead front-of-house operations for HCAT special events, including but not limited to:<br \/>o Completing banquet event orders (BEOs)<br \/>o Assist with procuring food and supplies<br \/>o Managing event setup, execution, and post-event cleanup<\/p>\n<p>OTHER DUTIES:<br \/>\u2022 Assigned by the Assistant Director, Director and\/or Dean.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bachelor\u2019s degree in hospitality management, business management or related subject matter OR associate\u2019s degree and Executive-level industry certification.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum of five years of food and hospitality industry experience.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum of two years\u2019 experience teaching credit, noncredit, or continuing education courses, preferably in a college environment. Experience with mentoring and advising students.<\/p>\n<p>ServSafe Managers Certification or commensurate food safety certification<\/p>\n<p>Experience with curriculum development and digital accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with diverse populations (students, administrators, faculty\/staff, professional organizations\/associations, and the public).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in planning and executing special events, preferred.<\/p>\n<p>Familiarity with microcomputer applications such as word processing, database management or industry specific point of sales systems. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd.
