Position Summary:<\/strong> The Neurodiagnostic Technologist is responsible for conducting electroneurodiagnostic procedures on the patient. This includes assessments, testing, the collection and technical interpretation of data, the completion of reports and billing forms.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nature and Scope: <\/strong>Under the clinical supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Manager and NeuroCare Director perform electroneurodiagnostic studies and tasks at an advanced level due to extensive job knowledge and skills normally acquired through experience and continuing education. Perform routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinical disorders of the nervous system in at least one of the following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM) and Transcranial Doppler (TCD).<\/p>\n

Provides training and education support to other NeuroCare technologists and\/or surgical neurophysiologists as needed. Gathers and documents accurate medical information and documentation. Communicates with other healthcare professionals and delivers high quality patient care.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

1. Patient Setup<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Explain test procedures so they are understood by the patient and any family members who are present using age appropriate guidelines.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Accurately takes and documents a pertinent history from the patient or chart. Perform one of the following END study: EEG, Evoked Potentials or TCD.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sets-up patient for appropriate study to include: patient, paperwork, room and equipment.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Measure and accurately apply recording electrodes in a timely manner, according to the International 10-20 Electrode Placement System<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. END Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Calibrate, evaluate and adjust equipment, optimizing recording and stimulation parameters, to acquire salient data and information.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Implement appropriate troubleshooting methods, such as adjusting sensitivity, to assure accurate recording of information.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Keep equipment clean and in proper working order, reporting malfunctions to supervisor and\/or manufacturer.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Performs needed daily maintenance on equipment as required.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

3. END Recording <\/strong>\u2022 Runs studies with appropriate documentation on study, observation of the patient, troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal and utilizing appropriate resources to perform study.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Recognizes and takes appropriate action to respond to evolving patient care needs.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge to different testing situations to include regular participation in the on-call schedule, working independently on 2nd, 3rd and weekend shifts in the Laboratory or ICU.<\/p>\n

4. Documentation <\/strong>\u2022 Accurately prepare in a timely manner, all records, files and work\/technical sheet, including a technical description of the modality recorded, with emphasis on the clinical observations in order to assist the neurologists and\/or designated MD with the final interpretation.<\/p>\n

5. Additional Duties <\/strong>\u2022 Demonstrates proper cleaning procedures for the patient, room and equipment after each study.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Uses down time for training, cleaning equipment and reading educational materials.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Assist new Neurodiagnostic Technologists following completion of training.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Attend scientific courses and seminars for continuing education as required.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, Manager or Corporate staff.<\/p>\n

1. Graduate CAAHEP accredited END training program or<\/p>\n

On the Job Training with minimum of One (1) to two (2) years of experience preferred.<\/p>\n
