Working with County departments, public safety agencies, community organizations, businesses, and residents, you will help ensure Los Angeles County is ready to respond when emergencies occur.<\/p>\n<p>Key responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Researching, developing, and maintaining emergency operations plans, policies, and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Planning and leading emergency exercises, drills, training programs, and recovery initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating emergency response operations from the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and field command locations.<\/li>\n<li>Recommending and coordinating the deployment of personnel, equipment, supplies, and resources during emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Developing reports, briefings, emergency preparedness materials, and public information resources.<\/li>\n<li>Advising schools, businesses, community organizations, and government agencies on disaster preparedness and resilience strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring incidents and supporting operational decision-making during emergencies and disasters.<\/li>\n<li>Serving as a rotating Duty Officer responsible for coordinating and monitoring Countywide emergency response activities.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting field operations, damage assessments, and disaster recovery efforts following emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Training emergency services personnel and strengthening interagency coordination and readiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications Needed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option I<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master&#8217;s degree in Homeland Security or Emergency Management; and One (1) year of professional experience analyzing and developing emergency management plans, procedures, or training programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Option II<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree; and Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing and developing emergency management plans, procedures, or training programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Option III<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three (3) years of professional experience analyzing and developing emergency management plans, procedures, or training programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Successful completion of the following Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) Independent Study Program courses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-<\/li>\n<li>IS-120.C: An Introduction to Exercises<\/li>\n<li>IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS-<\/li>\n<li>IS-230.E: Fundamentals of Emergency Management<\/li>\n<li>IS-235.C: Emergency Planning<\/li>\n<li>IS-240.C: Leadership and Influence<\/li>\n<li>IS-241.C: Decision Making and Problem Solving<\/li>\n<li>IS-242.C: Effective Communication<\/li>\n<li>IS-244.B: Developing and Managing Volunteers<\/li>\n<li>IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System<\/li>\n<li>IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_ch_employer_id":"13443","_ch_external_id":"11113636","_ch_location_state":"","_ch_location_city":"","_ch_is_ocr_job":"","_ch_expiration_date":"2026-07-07","_ch_apply_link":"https:\/\/monmouth.joinhandshake.com\/jobs\/11113636\/share_preview"},"ch_stakeholder":[],"ch_class_year":[],"ch_job_category":[86],"ch_career_skill":[],"ch_industry":[59],"class_list":["post-23482","ch_job","type-ch_job","status-publish","hentry","ch_job_category-full-time","ch_industry-government-law-enforcement-public-policy"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job\/23482","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ch_job"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23482"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"ch_stakeholder","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_stakeholder?post=23482"},{"taxonomy":"ch_class_year","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_class_year?post=23482"},{"taxonomy":"ch_job_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job_category?post=23482"},{"taxonomy":"ch_career_skill","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_career_skill?post=23482"},{"taxonomy":"ch_industry","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_industry?post=23482"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
