Other related duties may be assigned.<\/li>\n<li>Cleans and backwash filters; maintains water treatment and pumping equipment and filters.<\/li>\n<li>Tests and adjusts water chemistry to meet standards for oxidation and sanitation.<\/li>\n<li>Drains pools and performs acid wash with aid of helpers annually or in case of an emergency; makes repairs on facilities such as tiles, line hoses, valves and benches, and related surfaces surrounding the pools.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains and interprets operational and re-circulation efficiency of various filters and filter media systems.<\/li>\n<li>Inspects and ensures appearance of the general pool area\u00a0to prevent health or accident hazards to users.<\/li>\n<li>Checks and interprets gauges, flow meters, and monitoring equipment for operational efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities &#8211; Supervisor and\/or Leadership Exercised:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Train Seasonal Staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment involved in the operation of community swimming pools.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of current codes and practices established by Health Codes and national aquatic certification agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of practices of operation and preventive maintenance for pumps, suction lines, drains, piping balance tanks, valves, skimmer basket, flow and control switches of each system.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of city practices, policy and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Skill in oral and written communication.<\/li>\n<li>Skill in planning and organizing.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to operate and maintain pools in accordance with prescribed standards.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform normal pool cleaning services.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to train others.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one (1) year of maintenance experience in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools or related water treatment facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Licenses and Certifications Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Certified Pool Operator or must be able to obtain within 90 days from the date hire.
