As a Teacher 1, you\u2019ll help design safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate environments for young learners while partnering with families and supporting your classroom team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum using YWCA\u2019s anti-bias and &#8220;We Care&#8221; approach<\/li>\n<li>Supervise children at all times; maintain accurate attendance records<\/li>\n<li>Foster a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive environment<\/li>\n<li>Assess and document children&#8217;s developmental progress across domains<\/li>\n<li>Model and encourage cultural sensitivity with children and families<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with DHS Rule 3, NAEYC, Parent Aware, and CACFP standards<\/li>\n<li>Maintain current emergency procedures and child portfolios<\/li>\n<li>Co-lead parent-teacher conferences and contribute to behavioral management plans<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with center teams to support classroom and program needs<\/li>\n<li>Attend staff training days and fulfill in-service requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Classroom &amp; Organizational Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit lesson plans biweekly and ensure materials are prepared<\/li>\n<li>Clearly communicate with families using approved channels (e.g., ProCare, YWCA email)<\/li>\n<li>Notify leadership of curriculum or equipment needs<\/li>\n<li>Provide support across classrooms and serve as a backup as needed<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate punctuality and readiness at shift start<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Core Competencies<\/strong><br \/><strong>Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delivers well-planned lessons with clear structure and routine<\/li>\n<li>Maintains safe and inviting classroom environments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explains expectations to children clearly<\/li>\n<li>Actively listens and builds trust with families and staff<\/li>\n<li>Handles sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Classroom Management<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implements routines and transitions that foster positive behavior<\/li>\n<li>Efficiently manages classroom time and communication needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lesson Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develops adaptable, developmentally appropriate activities<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates understanding of early childhood milestones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Behavioral Management<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applies positive reinforcement strategies<\/li>\n<li>Documents behaviors and supports individualized behavior plans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recordkeeping<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintains attendance logs and developmental assessments accurately<\/li>\n<li>Supports NAEYC portfolio upkeep and compliance standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Child Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plans curriculum that nurtures all developmental domains<\/li>\n<li>Identifies concerns or delays proactively<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Health and Safety<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CPR and First Aid certified; practices safety protocols regularly<\/li>\n<li>Ensures children&#8217;s physical and emotional well-being<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technology &amp; Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uses ECE software as needed<\/li>\n<li>Maintains all required certifications and in-service hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emotional Intelligence<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrates empathy, patience, and judgment<\/li>\n<li>Welcomes feedback and uses mistakes as learning opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Collaboration &amp; Teamwork<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Works effectively with other ECE staff to meet classroom goals<\/li>\n<li>Builds respectful, supportive relationships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who You Are<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warm, organized, and passionate about early education<\/li>\n<li>Committed to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching<\/li>\n<li>Reliable, communicative, and collaborative<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1+ year of experience in Early Childhood Education<\/li>\n<li>Meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>CPR and First Aid certifications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AA or BA in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (variances may apply)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions &amp; Physical Demands<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular movement: kneeling, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs<\/li>\n<li>Requires physical activity, visual acuity, and engagement in loud environments<\/li>\n<li>Must travel occasionally within the metro area<\/li>\n<li>Hours may vary based on center and association needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why YWCA Minneapolis?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you work here, you\u2019re joining a movement.
