An Airport Police Officer is a sworn peace officer, authorized to carry a firearm who enforces federal and state regulations, City of Los Angeles ordinances, and security, traffic, and safety rules and regulations. Airport Police Officers engage in law enforcement activities, including uniformed foot, vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle patrol and plainclothes assignments in and around Los Angeles International Airport and Van Nuys Airport to ensure the safety of residents, tenants, employees, and the traveling public. Sworn officers also make arrests, apprehend and\/or assist other law enforcement agencies with apprehending, searching, transporting and booking law violators; issue parking citations; respond to radio calls for police assistance at various screening stations; provide physical deterrence to crime through high visibility patrols; prepare a variety of reports; testify in court; provide information to the public regarding locations and operations of the Department.<\/p>\n
