We are currently seeking a highly skilled Kurdish (Sorani) linguist <\/strong><\/i>to join our mission-driven team. This role requires a language expert capable of handling a diverse range of complex linguistic tasks with accuracy, cultural awareness, and insight.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

What You\u2019ll Do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will provide professional-level linguistic support across translation, interpretation, transcription<\/strong>, and Gisting <\/strong>including but not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Translation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Accurately translate materials (both digital and hard copy) from Kurdish and into English and vice versa.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Capture subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with contextual accuracy.<\/p>\n

Capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references effectively.<\/p>\n

Use terminology and expression<\/strong> consistent with subject matter norms in the target language.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Interpretation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Provide consecutive interpretation<\/strong>; simultaneous interpretation<\/strong> may occasionally be required.<\/p>\n

Maintain high fidelity and fluency, demonstrating understanding of regional dialects and cultural context.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Transcription<\/strong><\/p>\n

Listen to audio <\/strong>or review internet-based content and transcribe accurately and efficiently.<\/p>\n

Produce high-quality English-language reports based on audio\/visual materials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Demonstrate nuanced understanding of dialectical variations.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gisting and Summarization<\/strong><\/p>\n

Identify and summarize<\/strong> key facts and abstract concepts accurately.<\/p>\n

Prioritize and extract critical information from large datasets.<\/p>\n

Use reference materials effectively to support quality output<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Security Clearance:<\/strong><\/p>\n

No clearance required to apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Able to obtain a TS\/SCI clearance with polygraph<\/strong> (must be fully adjudicated before work begins). Leidos will sponsor candidates<\/strong> after passing all the required language tests.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bachelor\u2019s degree and 4 \u2013 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 \u2013 6 years of prior relevant experience. <\/strong>(Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)<\/p>\n

Translation and\/or interpretation degree<\/strong> is highly desired<\/p>\n

HLT<\/strong> experience a plus<\/p>\n

Must successfully complete a Leidos-administered language proficiency test or equivalent at the Primary level or higher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite<\/strong> and basic online research.<\/p>\n

All candidates must take and pass language tests <\/strong>administered by LEIDOS\/an accepted commercial testing vendor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u200b<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Experience supporting contingency operations as a deployed linguist.<\/p>\n

Familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, military operations, or law enforcement environments.<\/p>\n

Ability to effectively brief and communicate findings to various stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Proficiency in multiple languages <\/strong>is a strong asset.<\/p>\n

Additional Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Attending and passing all sponsor related training <\/strong>is a requirement of employment.<\/p>\n

All Candidates must take and successfully pass a medical laboratory and\/or physical screen<\/strong>\u00a0as required by the\u00a0program.<\/p>\n

Successfully completing the required weapons training.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Travel OCONUS is a REQUIREMENT on this program.
