This internship provides hands-on experience in museum education, event planning, visitor engagement, and program administration. Interns gain exposure to museum operations while developing professional skills in public programming and community outreach.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic Functions and Responsibilities, <\/strong>including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with the planning, preparation, and facilitation of public programs, workshops, lectures, camps, and special events.<\/li>\n<li>Support program setup, breakdown, and logistical coordination.<\/li>\n<li>Welcome and engage visitors during programs and events.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with hands-on educational activities and interactive learning experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct program attendance tracking, visitor surveys, and program evaluations.<\/li>\n<li>Help maintain program supplies, materials, and educational resources.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with community outreach initiatives and promotional activities.<\/li>\n<li>Support staff with administrative tasks, scheduling, and data entry.<\/li>\n<li>Research topics, presenters, and community partners to support future programming.<\/li>\n<li>Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Provide exceptional customer service while representing the museum professionally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Opportunities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the internship, participants may gain experience in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Museum education and interpretation<\/li>\n<li>Public program development<\/li>\n<li>Event coordination and logistics<\/li>\n<li>Community engagement and outreach<\/li>\n<li>Visitor experience and customer service<\/li>\n<li>Program evaluation and data collection<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration with museum professionals across multiple departments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in Museum Studies, Education, History, Science, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in museums, informal learning, education, or community engagement.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences, including children, families, and adults.<\/li>\n<li>Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic technology tools preferred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to assist with event setup and program materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Work Environment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This position works in a fast-paced museum environment with frequent interaction with guests, including children, school groups, and community partners.
