\u00a0Seasonal, <\/strong>Non-exempt<\/p>\n

Major Responsibility:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0This position is responsible for collaborating in the delivery of a high-quality, literacy-focused summer program for Baltimore City elementary-aged students. The core objective of the role is to contribute to improving reading and math skills while significantly increasing environmental literacy and exposure to the natural world as a vital part of the SuperKids Camp team. The Counselor Intern also maintains the safety and welfare of a class of 15-18 students.<\/p>\n

Reports To:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 Site Coordinator<\/p>\n

Essential Functions:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Assist with the Delivery of Instruction<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • Co-deliver engaging, interactive, literacy-based lessons and math review sessions provided by Parks & People.<\/li>\n
    • Lead daily social-emotional activities to help students build confidence and teamwork<\/li>\n
    • Inspire student engagement around environmental stewardship and foster a positive, constructive camp culture.<\/li>\n
    • Collaborate with the Counselor on lesson planning and instructional delivery methods.<\/li>\n
    • Ensure smooth and timely transitions between daily activities, maintaining adherence to the camp schedule.<\/li>\n
    • Assist with management and submission of daily attendance and necessary camp documentation.<\/li>\n
    • Support enrichment providers with the implementation of specialized activities.<\/li>\n
    • Implement positive classroom management and behavioral strategies in accordance with camp guidelines and policy.<\/li>\n
    • Assist in the completion of bi-weekly academic reports and support the delivery of pre- and post-camp assessments.<\/li>\n
    • Maintain detailed student records, including performance metrics and disciplinary actions.<\/li>\n
    • Actively participate in staff planning meetings and professional development sessions.<\/li>\n
    • Contribute to other camp activities as requested, embodying the camp’s spirit and mission.<\/li>\n
    • Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating leadership and commitment to good environmental stewardship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      1. Assist with Supervision of Participants<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        • Ensure that all students are actively engaged in the learning process<\/li>\n
        • Apply positive behavioral and classroom management techniques\u00a0to maintain a constructive learning environment.<\/li>\n
        • Ensure students behave in a safe, respectful, and orderly manner<\/li>\n
        • Supervise students during planned field trips, outdoor exploration experiences, and enrichment activities<\/li>\n
        • Support the team with meal distribution and clean-up, as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          1. Participate in the Internship Program<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n
            • Mandatory attendance at orientation and all scheduled learning sessions<\/li>\n
            • Timely submission of all required program assignments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              \u00a0Qualifications:<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

              Requirements\u00a0<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n

                \n
              • Be a rising freshman, sophomore, or junior at a 2 or 4-year post-secondary institution<\/li>\n
              • Ability to assist with the delivery of lesson plans and instructions appropriate for the grade level<\/li>\n
              • Ability to connect and communicate with youth<\/li>\n
              • Ability to make accommodations for the diverse learner<\/li>\n
              • Good oral\/written communication skills<\/li>\n
              • Strong interpersonal skills needed to inspire and motivate students<\/li>\n
              • Good time management skills needed to handle multiple, concurrent classroom activities that serve the needs of students<\/li>\n
              • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Preferences\u00a0<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Background or strong interest in education (elementary, special, secondary, environmental) or a closely related field<\/li>\n
                • Knowledge of different learning styles and methods of content delivery<\/li>\n
                • Previous experience working with youth programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Mandatory Schedule & Attendance<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Attendance at all orientation and training sessions is mandatory.<\/strong> We are unable to accommodate vacations or outside commitments during the following dates:<\/p>\n

                  August 5:<\/strong> Intern Dinner and Final Presentations<\/p>\n
