{"id":18025,"date":"2026-05-29T22:30:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T22:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/dance-instructor-2\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T22:30:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T22:30:23","slug":"dance-instructor-2","status":"publish","type":"ch_job","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/dance-instructor-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Dance Instructor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a\u00a0<strong>Dance Instructor<\/strong>\u00a0to join our team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA\u00a0focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a Dance Instructor, you will provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for dance program participants while delivering a quality experience to students and parents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead dance technique classes and demonstrate positive dance principles.<\/li>\n<li>Create class lesson plans with a natural progression that relates to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught, reflecting YMCA dance curricula and core values.<\/li>\n<li>Choreograph and contribute to annual dance recitals, dance performances, and other YMCA events as assigned.<\/li>\n<li>Effectively communicate program information and student progress to the youth and\/or arts director and members at each session.<\/li>\n<li>Attend center and association dance staff training and meetings as required.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the youth and\/or arts director in reaching campaign goals by telling the Y story, making personal asks, and supporting center events.<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Are you a good fit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 16 years of age or older.<\/li>\n<li>5+ years of formal dance training or comparable experience.<\/li>\n<li>1-2 years of experience as a dance teacher and\/or teaching assistant preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.<\/li>\n<li>Possess the knowledge and skills to teach preschool and beginning-level dance classes. Multiple disciplines preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to create engaging lesson plans that reflect appropriate level, ability, classroom management, and the YMCA dance curricula.<\/li>\n<li>Performance and dance production experience preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.<\/li>\n<li>Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day of employment.
