The Mentor Professional\u2019s primary responsibility is to ensure every child has a<br \/>safe, first-class after school experience. This is done by acting as a positive, engaging adult role model,<br \/>teacher, coach, and mentor. Mentor Professionals must have a genuine interest in the growth,<br \/>development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach, inspire,<br \/>encourage, and impact. Professionals work directly with an assigned group of approximately 20-25<br \/>students. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.<br \/>KEY ROLES:<br \/>1. Commitment to Safety<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all<br \/>safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.<br \/>\u2022 Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and<br \/>practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.<br \/>\u2022 Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention<br \/>training.<br \/>\u2022 Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and<br \/>communication practices.<br \/>DISCLAIMER: The Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast requires a 4-point background check<br \/>for all employees before hire and during employment that includes social security verification, local<br \/>comprehensive criminal history search, national comprehensive criminal history search, and sex<br \/>offender registry search. Per the organization\u2019s Screening &amp; Onboarding Policy, a person is ineligible<br \/>to obtain employment with the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast if such person has been<br \/>convicted of any misdemeanor against children or any felony consisting of murder, child abuse,<br \/>domestic violence, abduction or human trafficking, rape or sexual assault, arson, weapons, physical<br \/>assault or battery, or drug possession (use or distribution) in the last five years.<\/p>\n<p><i>This position may require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, or reach as needed, and to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. Employees must have the dexterity, coordination, vision, and hearing necessary to perform job tasks safely and accurately.<\/i>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2. Support Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast\u2019s mission, \u201cTo ensure every child has mentors and<br \/>champions in life.\u201d<br \/>3. Work as a tutor\/mentor in an After-School Enrichment Program providing homework assistance,<br \/>academic enrichment and fitness using curriculum and materials provided by Boys &amp; Girls Club of Central<br \/>Orange Coast. This also includes making sure the classroom is clean upon your shift departure which<br \/>could include sweeping and wiping down tables.<br \/>4. Serve as a positive adult role model for children in the program through reliability, punctuality,<br \/>appropriate dress, speech, and attitude.<br \/>5. Demonstrate program leadership skills through group expectations management and effective practices<br \/>of the Club\u2019s Guiding Principles: respect each other, respect the Club, try your best and have fun.<br \/>6. Approach behavior as communication by practicing positive reinforcement and implementing strategies<br \/>that help members identify and correct challenging behaviors.<br \/>7. Plan, organize, and prioritize programmatic deliverables including safety practices, curriculum, and<br \/>individualized member engagement.<br \/>8. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers in a way that enhances safety, supports our<br \/>\u201cBlue Culture\u201d, fosters, transparency, and invites opportunities for learning and growth.<br \/>9. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and community partners by utilizing objective<br \/>language, engaging parents in formulating solutions, and activating appropriate communication channels.<br \/>10. Develop program delivery skills in a way that fosters engagement and learning while building upon the<br \/>mentor-mentee relationship.<br \/>11.
