POSITION SUMMARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Homeschool Teacher is responsible for developing and leading assigned lessons for a group of children in the YMCA Homeschool program. They must run the program with safety in the forefront and provide a quality experience to children and parents.<\/p>\n

They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning in math education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors of all students.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Teaches lessons in science to small groups of children in Y Homeschool program.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using a variety of proven methods.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adheres to program quality and fidelity standards.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attends staff meetings and trainings.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare complete lessons plans for substitute teachers.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Maintains positive relationships with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.<\/p>\n

QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Previous experience working in an academic setting.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Completion of an internship or field experience in secondary education is preferred.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Previous experience working with students in different grades is preferred.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Multi-lingual desired but not required.\u00a0<\/p>\n
