{"id":15827,"date":"2026-04-28T22:40:51","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T22:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/summer-program-aide\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T22:40:51","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T22:40:51","slug":"summer-program-aide","status":"publish","type":"ch_job","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/summer-program-aide\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Program Aide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Harlem Children\u2019s Zone (HCZ) \u2014 a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York \u2014 seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned\u00a0Summer Program Aide to support our Summer Program.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Summer Program Aide\u00a0will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children\u2019s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Summer Program Aide\u00a0will join one of our Harlem Children&#8217;s Zone\/Promise Academy after-school programs that ensures thousands of kids in Central Harlem have an after-school program that is fun, safe, and a great learning experience. The individual will be an enthusiastic, reliable team player to contribute every ounce of their energy, creativity, and love so that our kids have an incredible summer program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or GED is required (must be able to provide proof)<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to successfully pass our background check, medical and fingerprinting requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who You Are<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ<\/li>\n<li>Some experience working\u00a0with students and\/or at-risk youth<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication\u00a0skills, both oral and written<\/li>\n<li>Familiar with issues\u00a0prevalent in underserved communities<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to engage and\u00a0motivate students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you&#8217;ll do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work directly with students across a variety of daily activities, including arts, dance, sports, STEM, team games, and enrichment blocks<\/li>\n<li>Assist teachers and activity leaders in supporting students\u2019 physical, emotional, social, moral, and intellectual development<\/li>\n<li>Lead or co\u2011lead engaging activities, workshops, and events based on student interests and summer program themes<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the safety and supervision of scholars throughout all activities, transitions, field trips, meals, and outdoor time<\/li>\n<li>Model positive behavior, professionalism, and strong character to create a supportive and inclusive environment<\/li>\n<li>Build positive relationships with students, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and personal growth<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate group discussions, reflections, and community\u2011building activities appropriate to student age and developmental stage<\/li>\n<li>Support academic enrichment such as reading time, skill\u2011building blocks, homework completion, and test prep (during school-year programming)<\/li>\n<li>Prepare materials, set up program spaces, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of activity areas<\/li>\n<li>Implement age\u2011appropriate behavior management strategies using positive discipline<\/li>\n<li>Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families when needed<\/li>\n<li>Monitor attendance, participation, and student engagement to support program quality<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, health and safety protocols, and mandated reporting requirements<\/li>\n<li>Participate in staff meetings, pre\u2011service training, and daily briefings<\/li>\n<li>Assist with special events, theme days, family days, celebrations, and end-of-summer showcases<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth daily operations and program success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Summer Program Dates: July 6, 2026- August 14, 2026<\/li>\n<li>Summer Program Aide Training: June 22- July 2<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>This is a full-time, 7\u2011week position with a schedule of up to 40 hours per week<\/strong>. Employees will work an 8\u2011hour shift scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., depending on site placement. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to the full duration and schedule of the program.<\/li>\n<li>There is potential for permanent placement in the Program Aide role following the summer, pending position availability and successful performance during the program.
