These roles offer hands-on opportunities to innovate across IBM\u2019s high-performance systems portfolio \u2014 shaping the technologies that define what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n<p>Your role and responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>As part of IBM\u2019s hardware development organization, you will design, prototype, and validate next-generation compute systems by integrating expertise across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and materials engineering.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your work may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing and optimizing mechanical, thermal, and electrical components using CAD and CFD tools.<\/li>\n<li>Building and testing hardware prototypes, performing debug, failure analysis, and driving reliability and serviceability improvements.<\/li>\n<li>Modeling system-level thermal performance to enhance cooling, manufacturability, and efficiency.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Applying design-of-experiments (DOE) methods to evaluate and improve processes, materials, and hardware designs.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting process and materials development, manufacturing readiness, and equipment IT integration within R&amp;D environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You will have opportunities to work in areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Thermal and mechanical modeling for air and liquid cooled systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Required education<\/p>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree<\/p>\n<p>Preferred education<\/p>\n<p>Master&#8217;s Degree<\/p>\n<p>Required technical and professional expertise<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>M.S. or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal Fluid Science.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and\/or project management.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience with hardware design, CAD tools (SolidWorks, Allegro, Cadence or equivalent), and modeling\/simulation environments (Cadence Celsius, Ansys Fluent, Icepak, Flotherm, or equivalent).<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and data-driven problem solving.\n<p>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preferred technical and professional experience<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lab-based development or validation work skills.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced technical degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) in relevant disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>Experience leading project teams or cross-functional technical initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with SolidWorks and\/or finite element modeling (FEM) tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>ABOUT BUSINESS UNIT<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>IBM Systems helps IT leaders think differently about their infrastructure.
