{"id":114000,"date":"2026-10-16T14:01:43","date_gmt":"2026-10-16T14:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/scsc-spring-2027-legal-externship-and-internship\/"},"modified":"2026-10-16T20:32:27","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T00:32:27","slug":"scsc-spring-2027-legal-externship-and-internship","status":"publish","type":"ch_job","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/scsc-spring-2027-legal-externship-and-internship\/","title":{"rendered":"SCSC Spring 2027 Legal Externship and Internship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SCSC is looking for interns or externs interested in learning about the charter school administration and authorization process. <strong><u>Candidates must be currently enrolled in their first or subsequent year of law school.<\/u><\/strong> Ideal candidates will demonstrate superior academic performance in their programs of study; interest in and knowledge of the charter school movement; excellent research skills; proficiency with Excel; and proactive attitudes. Additionally, exceptional candidates will possess superior writing abilities. Externs\/Interns can expect to gain valuable insight into Georgia government, education law, legal and policy review, the charter school movement, educational reform and improvement, and the workings of a state agency while honing research and writing skills. Externs\/Interns will attend agency meetings, including internal staff meetings and monthly SCSC board meetings.<br \/>Specific needs include but are not limited to:<br \/>\u2022 Conduct legal and policy research and analysis<br \/>\u2022 Provide assistance and support for SCSC schools\u2019 annual monitoring activities<br \/>\u2022 Track and analyze legislative proposals and attend legislative committee meetings<br \/>\u2022 Support the SCSC\u2019s Open Meetings Act and Open Records Act obligations, including taking minutes for SCSC meetings and responding to records requests<br \/>\u2022 Other duties as assigned<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Instructions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Submit applications via email to <strong>kiara.thompson@scsc.georgia.gov.<\/strong> Note: the application requires the submission of a resume or curriculum vitae, a transcript of grades (a copy of an unofficial transcript will suffice), a cover letter explaining your interest, the contact information for two references, and a brief writing sample (no more than 5 pages).
