{"id":111591,"date":"2026-09-28T20:50:30","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T20:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/teaching-assistant-2\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T20:13:47","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T00:13:47","slug":"teaching-assistant-2","status":"publish","type":"ch_job","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/job\/teaching-assistant-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Job Summary\u00a0<br \/>Responsible for providing assistance to instructional programs by assisting the teacher in\u00a0<br \/>achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help\u00a0<br \/>them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.\u00a0<br \/>Essential Duties\u00a0<br \/>Support classroom teacher with student learning, implementing and working through\u00a0<br \/>behavior and support plans that allow the student to meet IEP goals, as well as providing\u00a0<br \/>behavior redirection techniques when necessary.\u00a0<br \/>Encourage, engage and support students in the classroom, playground, and the\u00a0<br \/>community to maintain a positive environment that is conductive for learning and\u00a0<br \/>cooperation.<br \/>Collect data about student progress, based on behavior plans and IEP goals. Counts and\u00a0<br \/>records specific student behaviors when required.\u00a0<br \/>Assist students in the development and maintenance of appropriate social behaviors, as\u00a0<br \/>well as interactions with others.\u00a0<br \/>Assists the classroom teacher in a variety of duties (Examples: set up and maintenance of\u00a0<br \/>the classroom, materials and supplies, completion of paperwork, assists in developing\u00a0<br \/>educational materials).\u00a0<br \/>Assist students leaving and entering transportation vehicles, accompanies students to\u00a0<br \/>and from classrooms as needed.\u00a0<br \/>Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills.\u00a0<br \/>Assist with students use of equipment and assistive tech devices.\u00a0<br \/>Observe and intervene to redirect inappropriate behavior.\u00a0<br \/>Assist, monitor, and guide the student to pay attention, participate in activities, and\u00a0<br \/>complete tasks.\u00a0<br \/>Performs as a substitute teacher as needed.\u00a0<br \/>Participate in meetings and training as needed.\u00a0<br \/>Perform other duties as assigned (i.e. breakfast, lunch, arrival and dismissal).\u00a0<br \/>Qualifications\/Requirements<br \/>Experience in special education, education, and\/or early childhood development.\u00a0<br \/>Applied Behavior Analysis preferred but not necessary.\u00a0<br \/>Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on\u00a0<br \/>solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; relationship building; and teamwork.\u00a0<br \/>Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing. Ability to read\u00a0<br \/>and government regulations.
