This position is responsible for the oversight of all activities performed by the unit, accounting and audit-related functions, as well as analyzing, developing, and implementing financial system policies and procedures consistent with the Auditor&#8217;s Office policies and procedures to ensure fiscal and programmatic integrity in the department&#8217;s operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duties of this role include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct supervision of staff (includes coaching &amp; mentoring) in the following areas: accounting, MA &amp; PMAP claims, child foster care placement administration, estate recovery<\/li>\n<li>Financial reporting and analysis<\/li>\n<li>Budget development and management<\/li>\n<li>Financial close and audit support (complex reconciliations, journal entries, work papers)<\/li>\n<li>Communication with program areas and external providers<\/li>\n<li>Oversight of functions involving payables and receivables\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Applying and implementing best practices, audit standards, and internal controls<\/li>\n<li>Identifying and leading process improvement initiatives\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Distinguishing Features of Work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An employee in this class serves as the County Auditor&#8217;s accounting liaison for an assigned department(s) and is responsible for analyzing, developing and implementing financial system policies and procedures consistent with the Auditor&#8217;s Office policies and procedures to ensure the fiscal integrity in departmental operations. Duties include analyzing financial data and reports; developing and conducting studies to investigate and resolve procedural issues; evaluating the impact of financial controls on daily operations; recommending changes to financial systems, operational methods, and procedures to reduce operating costs; assisting in the development and presentation of departmental budgets; integrating departmental financial systems with County goals and objectives; and supervising accounting and clerical staff within an assigned department.
