The pay rate for this position is $15.00 per hour. Work<\/p>\n<p>is normally performed during normal business hours (Monday \u2013 Friday, 8:30 AM to<\/p>\n<p>5PM).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a Community Development intern, you will gain valuable and practical experience<\/p>\n<p>working on various projects, programs, and daily activities such as, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updating\/maintaining various city maps\/data in ArcGIS<\/li>\n<li>Research on various zoning code updates and other planning\/zoning practices<\/li>\n<li>Enter, update, and review current code enforcement cases.<\/li>\n<li>Investigate\/verify zoning complaints and mail violation correspondence.<\/li>\n<li>Answer incoming phone calls and emails from residents, etc. reporting alleged<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>code violations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compile statistical data and prepare monthly reports.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research on various process improvements, programs, and zoning and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>code enforcement practices in other communities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Respond to requests for planning and zoning information and gather information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>from other departments and staff within the Community Development Department.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct and participate in field inspections to ensure compliance with planning,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>zoning, code enforcement, and storm water detention facility regulations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meeting preparation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Examples of knowledge, skills and abilities:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge or interest in code enforcement, planning and zoning and community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>outreach activities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to answer phones and input complaints using basic data entry skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, orally and in writing, using<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>property spelling, grammar, and punctuation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to remain calm and focused when interacting with individuals who may be<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>upset or irate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to maintain confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, ArcGIS, Internet, and email use.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own work.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be a team player, remain flexible, and to work effectively in a diverse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Relevant Background and Formal Education:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current full-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing working<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>towards a degree in any Professional program that such as city planning,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Geography, GIS, or other related professions.<\/li>\n<li>Possession of a valid driver&#8217;s license.<\/li>\n<li>Current enrollment must be verified by e-mailing\/faxing a recent transcript to the<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>intern supervisor if selected for an interview.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful passage of background check and drug screen\/physical exam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_ch_employer_id":"105897","_ch_external_id":"11624362","_ch_location_state":"","_ch_location_city":"","_ch_is_ocr_job":"","_ch_expiration_date":"2026-11-08","_ch_apply_link":"https:\/\/monmouth.joinhandshake.com\/jobs\/11624362\/share_preview"},"ch_stakeholder":[],"ch_class_year":[],"ch_job_category":[89],"ch_career_skill":[],"ch_industry":[59],"class_list":["post-105900","ch_job","type-ch_job","status-publish","hentry","ch_job_category-internships","ch_industry-government-law-enforcement-public-policy"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job\/105900","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ch_job"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=105900"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"ch_stakeholder","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_stakeholder?post=105900"},{"taxonomy":"ch_class_year","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_class_year?post=105900"},{"taxonomy":"ch_job_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_job_category?post=105900"},{"taxonomy":"ch_career_skill","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_career_skill?post=105900"},{"taxonomy":"ch_industry","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/career-development\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ch_industry?post=105900"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
