This role will be a combination of remote and in-office work, with the ability to attend meetings on-site as appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s never too early to start searching for your dream career. We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy, including volunteer events, power plant tours, lunch and learns, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Intern Description:<br \/>This internship provides hands-on experience in commodity supply, transportation logistics, and fuel operations within the utility industry. The Fuels Intern will support the Fuels team in monitoring market conditions, conducting research, and assisting with purchasing, scheduling, and administrative activities across various commodity areas. This is a developmental role designed to expose the intern to the fundamentals of fuel procurement, logistics, and regulatory compliance while building foundational skills in data analysis and business operations.<br \/>Commodity Areas:<br \/>\u2022 Diesel Fuel<br \/>\u2022 Coal Combustion Products (CCPs)<br \/>\u2022 Railroad and Railcar Logistics<br \/>\u2022 Coal<br \/>\u2022 Fuel Additives (Lime, Limestone, Ammonia, Powder Activated Carbon, Urea, etc.)<br \/>\u2022 Back Office Functions (including Aligne, Daily Fuels, regulatory requests, and internal\/external reporting)<br \/>\u2022 Emissions<\/p>\n<p>Job tasks include but not limited to:<br \/>\u2022 Assist in monitoring and researching market conditions through reports from energy consultants, vendors, subscription services, utilities, and government agencies.<br \/>\u2022 Support the development of fuel, additives, and transportation strategies by gathering and organizing data related to political, environmental, regulatory, technological, economic, and social conditions.<br \/>\u2022 Help prepare analyses and documentation for contract negotiations and solicitations related to coal, fuel oil, railcar maintenance, fuel additives, emissions allowances, CCPs, and transportation.<br \/>\u2022 Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for railcar leasing, railcar maintenance, and fuel operations expenses.<br \/>\u2022 Maintain, update, and create spreadsheets and databases supporting department activities.<br \/>\u2022 Support the preparation of reports, regulatory responses, and communications, including data requests and regulatory testimony drafts as assigned.<br \/>\u2022 Participate in team meetings and cross-functional projects to gain exposure to multiple commodity areas.<br \/>\u2022 Perform other duties as assigned to support the Fuels team.<\/p>\n<p>Education and Experience Requirements:<br \/>Currently pursuing a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related discipline. Junior or Senior standing preferred; graduate students also welcome. No prior professional experience required; coursework or projects involving data analysis, procurement, logistics, or energy is a plus.<\/p>\n<p>Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:<br \/>\u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn other data analytic tools.<br \/>\u2022 Ability to work with datasets, perform basic data cleansing, and create visualizations.<br \/>\u2022 Interest in or exposure to Microsoft Power BI, SQL, SharePoint, Power Automate, or Power Apps is a plus.<br \/>\u2022 Strong written and oral communication skills.<br \/>\u2022 Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and ask questions.<br \/>\u2022 Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail.<br \/>\u2022 Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across departments.<br \/>\u2022 Demonstrates high integrity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.<\/p>\n<p>Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and\/or Testing Required: None<\/p>\n<p>Working Conditions: Office environment, with potential opportunities to visit plants or attend industry events for learning purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Evergy has a clear mission \u2013 To empower a better future.
