The Class of 2020 is welcomed back for an in-person Commencement after finishing the year virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Linda Grunin Simulation Lab and Learning Center opens at the University\u2019s Graduate Center, providing students with hands-on learning and training opportunities<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Wilson Hall is renamed the Great Hall at Shadow Lawn as part of a larger effort to make Monmouth a more inclusive and supportive community for all<\/p>\n<\/div>

The basketball arena was renamed to Dr. Marilyn A. McNeil Arena after the recently retired Vice President and Director of Athletics who spent 28 years at the University. The renaming was in recognition of Dr. McNeil’s longstanding service to the University and her profound impact on countless student-athletes.<\/p>\n<\/div>

2022<\/h2>\n\n\n

Women’s rowing was added as the school’s 24th NCAA Division I sport. Regular season competition started in the Fall of 2022, led by Coach Scott Belford who came to Monmouth following an 18-year run as the head coach of varsity crew at nearby Christian Brothers Academy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The outdoor track was dedicated in honor of longtime director and head coach of Cross Country and Track and Field, Joe Compagni, after a sensational 24-year run. In his tenure, the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams won a total of 58 conference titles in both the NEC and MAAC, and he helped build and grow the programs into what they have become today.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Feature film, “Miranda\u2019s Victim,” starring Abigail Breslin, Andy Garcia, Ryan Phillippe, Sebastian Quinn, Donald Sutherland, Emily VanCamp, and Luke Wilson, was filmed on campus, with students having the opportunity to work behind the scenes and get hands-on experience in film production.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

2023<\/h2>\n\n\n

Monmouth announced the largest single gift in its 90-year history, an outright gift of $21 million from a donor who has chosen to remain anonymous. The gift will establish a new scholarship program that will aid undergraduate students who meet specific academic and financial criteria by helping provide access to a private university education that would otherwise be financially challenging or unattainable for them.<\/p>\n<\/div>
