MONMOUTH LACROSSE POSTS 10th VICTORY
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University posted a 14-6 victory over Fairfield University Wednesday afternoon in women’s collegiate lacrosse action in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The victory gave Monmouth (10-6) its fifth consecutive winning season and its fifth straight year of winning 10 or more contests.
The Hawks took control of game in the waxing moments as Rebekah Murphy scored on an assist from Heather Bryan just 10 seconds into the contest. Monmouth went on to stake a 9-4 advantage at the intermission and cruised in the second half.
Monmouth’s attack was led by All-America Heather Bryan who registered a season-high six goals and added two assists. Freshman Stacy Sydlo added two goals in the contest. Jess Salvesen chipped in with one goal and one assist. Lisa Cherill, Kristen Hall, Meg Brown and Stephenie LaGrossa all added goals for the Hawks.
Stacy Makris performed well in goal for the Hawks once again. She registered 10 saves in a complete-game effort.
Monmouth returns to action on Sunday, April 29 as the Hawks travel to
Massachusetts for a Noon contest at Boston College, which is coached by
former Hawks’ skipper Shari Krasnoo.
