LaGROSSA EARNS NORTHEAST CONFERENCE HONOR
Monmouth senior named Player of the Week

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University women’s lacrosse standout Stephenie LaGrossa was honored on Monday as the Northeast Conference announced its weekly award winners.

LaGrossa earned NEC Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals in each of Monmouth’s three victories last week. LaGrossa picked up two goals in the Hawks’ 9-2 non-league win over Bucknell last Wednesday, before recording a pair of scores, including the game-winner – in Monmouth’s 10-9 win over NEC rivel UMBC on Saturday.

The Glenolden, Pa., native ended the week by registering two goals in MU’s 8-5 win over Mount St. Mary’s.

A second-team All-Northeast Conference selection last year, LaGrossa currently ranks fourth on Monmouth in both scoring (12 points/1.20 ppg) and goals (11 goals/1.10 gpg).

The Hawks, currently 5-5 overall, enter this week’s play in first place in the Northeast Conference with a 2-0 mark. The Hawks are a half game ahead of Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac in the standings.

Monmouth returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 as the Hawks travel to New Britain, Conn., for a 3 p.m. contest at Central Connecticut State.
