DARRELL NICK EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.  – Monmouth University punter Darrell Nick was honored for his scholastic and athletic endeavors as the College Sports Information Directors of America announced the Verizon University Division Academic All-District 2 Football Teams. Nick was named first-team academic all-district and is one of eight candidates vying for Academic All-America punter honors.

Nick, a senior, owns a 3.47 grade-point-average in business management.

Nick, a native of Forked River, N.J., currently ranks fifth among NCAA Division I-AA punters with a 42.13 yards-per-punt average. This season, Nick is on pace to eclipse both the school and Northeast Conference single-season records for punting average. He currently owns all of Monmouth’s single-game, single-season and career punting records. In 1999, Nick was named a first-team Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette Division I Mid-Major All-America and a first-team All-Northeast Conference performer.

All participants in NCAA Division I-A and I-AA are eligible for University Division honors and District II covers schools in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
