MONMOUTH RUNNERS COMPETE AT LEOPARD INVITATIONAL

Easton, Pa. – Monmouth University’s men’s and women’s cross country squads traveled to Easton, Pa. to compete in the Leopard Invitational, hosted by Lafayette College this afternoon.  The Hawks’ men’s team, led by Nick Pellegrino, finished in third place out of 10 teams (76 points), while the women finished in seventh out of 13 squads (185 points).  Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania were victorious in the invitational on the men’s and women’s sides, respectively.

Pellegrino finished in second place overall in the meet with a time of 26:17, one second behind the leader, Scott Simpson of Columbia.  Brad Bisinger and Brian Hoffman also finished in the top-10 in the meet, as Bisinger placed fourth (26:23) and Hoffman finished eighth (26:30.8).

Monmouth was also represented by Justin Ward (32nd) and Bill Mason (35th), who finished in the top-35.  Joseph Daniels (62nd), Nick Klastava (74th), Tim Dietz (76th), Pat D’Alessandro (84th), Shawn Anderson (102nd) and Michael Sullivan (105th) rounded out the field for the men’s team.

The women’s squad was led by Tara Losito’s 20th place finish with a time of 22:18.  Kim Wolozen finished slightly behind Losito in 24th place, recording a time of 22:26.8.  Monmouth’s next finishers were Amala Merritt in 44th place (23:07) and Jessica Pratt (46th – 23:11).

The men’s and women’s cross country squads will next compete in the Northeast Conference Championships on October 28 in Moon
