OVER 650 ATHLETES SLATED TO RUN IN 7TH ANNUAL MONMOUTH INVITATIONAL

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Tatum Park in Middletown, N.J., will welcome over 650 athletes as it plays host to the seventh annual Monmouth University Cross Country Invitational Saturday, September 22. The event features four events, including two high school races and two collegiate races.

The high school boys’ race kicks off the festivities at 9:20 a.m., followed by the high school girls’ race at 9:40 am. The college men’s race is slated for 10:10 a.m. and the activities come to a close with the college women’s race at 10:50 a.m.

The men’s race covers a five-mile course and features 16 schools, including 13 NCAA Division I squads. Among the Division I teams participating are Columbia, Cornell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hoftra, Long Island, Manhattan, Monmouth, Rider, Sacred Heart, St. Peter’s, Seton Hall, St. Francis (N.Y.) and St. John’s. Also running are Bergen Community College, Middlesex Community College and SUNY Delhi.

The women’s race covers five kilometers and features 19 schools, including 16 NCAA Division I squads. Among the Division I teams participating are Columbia, Cornell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra, Iona, Long Island, Manhattan, Monmouth, Penn State, Rider, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, St. Peter, Seton Hall, St. Francis (N.Y.) and St. John’s. Also running are Bergen Community College, Springfield College and SUNY Delhi.

The high school events feature many of the local powers, including Lacey Township, Manchester, Middletown North, Red Bank Catholic, Red Bank Regional, Shore Regional, Toms River North, Toms River South, Wall and Woodrow Wilson.
 

RESULTS: Meet results will be faxed to all participating institutions at approximately 2 p.m. Results will also be made available at the Monmouth University web site as soon as possible.

COURSE RECORDS: Women’s 5K Course- 18:47.7 – Jen Ecker (UMBC); Men’s 5-Mile Course 25:28.9 – Stephen Ondieki (FDU).
