CROSS COUNTRY
Due to inaccurate results from the Duquesne Duals, it was reported that
the men's cross country team finished 2-5 at the meet. A retabulation of
the standings gave Monmouth a 5-2 mark at the event. The Hawks defeated
Carnegie Mellon (23 to 34), Wheeling Jesuit (27 to 30), Pittsburgh (27
to 29), Robert Morris (21 to 38) and Niagara (15 to 50). The Hawks were
defeated by Duquesne (17 to 43) and St. Francis [Pa.] (25 to 30).

MONMOUTH CROSS COUNTRY OPENS 2001 SLATE AT DUQUESNE DUALS
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s cross country squads opened the 2001 season at the Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa. Monmouth’s women posted a 4-3 mark at the event and the Hawks’ men went 2-5.
Monmouth’s women posted victories over Robert Morris (24 to 32), Niagara (16 to 47), Carnegie Mellon (20 to 40) and Wheeling Jesuit (27 to 31). They were defeated by Duquesne (18 to 39), Pittsburgh (16 to 44) and St. Francis [Pa.] (16 to 45). The Hawks’ men’s team posted wins over Robert Morris (24 to 35) and Niagara (15 to 49). The Monmouth men were defeated by Pittsburgh (24 to 33), Duquesne (15 to 47), St. Francis [Pa.] (22 to 34), Wheeling Jesuit (27 to 30) and Carnegie Mellon (29 to 30).
The Monmouth women were led by Tara Losito who finished 17th in a time of 19:01. Amala Merritt placed 21st with a time of 20:00.
Brad Bisinger led the men as he finished in seventh place with a time of 22:01. Brian Hoffman and Nick Pellegrino placed 12th and 15th, respectively with times of 22:41 and 22:51.
Monmouth returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 22 as the Hawks host the Seventh Annual Monmouth Invitational at Tatum Park in Middletown, N.J.
