TOTH, GENAO GARNER NORTHEAST CONFERENCE HONORS
Toth Named Player of the Week For Second Time, Genao Named Pitcher
of the Week
West Long Branch, N.J. – Jeff Toth (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) and Enrique Genao (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) earned Northeast Conference honors as the NEC announced its weekly winners earlier this week. The Hawks, who were 4-1 over the week and 4-0 in conference play, have improved their record to 14-17, 10-1 as they sit a-top the South Division of the conference.
Toth, the senior first baseman, earned Player of the Week honors for the second time behind a powerful offensive performance. Toth batted .611 (11-18) with four homers, eight runs and 12 RBI for the first place Hawks. He also recorded two doubles and a triple, drew three walks and slugged a phenomenal 1.500. In a tremendous individual effort, Toth hit three home runs in consecutive at-bats against Marist, Monmouth’s only setback of the week. Toth also sparked the Hawks’ three-game sweep of UMBC, going 5-9 with two doubles and five RBI. On the season, Toth leads the Hawks and ranks in the top-five in the NEC in hitting (.393), home runs (7), RBI (40), and slugging percentage (.696).
Genao, the junior right-hander, had two impressive outings over the week as he made two starts. He recorded two league victories and compiled a 2.65 earned-run-average, while striking out 11 batters in 17 innings of work. In Monmouth’s 12-3 win over Wagner on Monday, he allowed three runs on ten hits and struck out six in a complete game, his third of the season. On Saturday, Genao limited UMBC to two earned runs on ten hits in eight innings, while fanning five and walking one. Genao is now 4-1 on the season and has posted a team-best 3.59 ERA and struck out 40 batters in 47.2 innings.
