The Residential Life "Process"
The process starts with the completion of your contract. Make sure that you, the student, fill out the contract. It is important that you be honest when you select your preferences. The Office of Residential Life makes every attempt to match up roommates by their preferences—even by taste in music.
Once the Office of Undergraduate Admission has received your submitted contract, they will forward it to the Office of Residential Life. In early June, the members of the Residential Life staff will prepare room assignments utilizing a random assignment process and inform you of your housing status.
In early July, we will prepare a packet of information for you. You will receive:
- Your hall and room number
- Roommate(s) name and phone number
- A “Getting to Know Your Roommate” guide
- Personal insurance information for your belongings
- Move-in information
- Other information about living on campus
It is important you understand that the Office of Residential Life will make every attempt to meet your requests. However, all assignments are made on a space availability basis. Any roommate requests received after May 1 or not included on your original housing contract cannot be granted. All roommates must include each other on their housing contract.
