Greetings from New Student Orientation!
Congratulations and welcome to the Monmouth University community! Choosing to attend Monmouth is a great beginning to this exciting time of your life. You are now part of a campus community that is proud of the academic challenges, social opportunities, and personal attention that we can provide for our students.
During our two-day New Student Orientation in July, you will begin to take the first steps toward a successful first year at Monmouth. There are three goals of the New Student Orientation program. First, we will explore the changes that are in store for you. Our student staff will share helpful hints and personal experiences that you can take to make this transition easily. We will introduce you to campus departments and offices that are here to help support you academically, socially, and personally. Second, we will empower you to make the most your educational experience.
During New Student Orientation, you will meet with an academic advisor to discuss your academic goals and to develop a schedule for your first semester. In this meeting, you will learn more about these college courses, set academic goals, and find campus resources to achieve those goals. Last, we want to engage you in our community by explaining what it means to be a Monmouth Hawk and connecting you to the students, faculty, and staff members who will help make your Monmouth experience a memorable one. You will hear more about New Student Orientation and how to sign up for the program by the end of May.
At New Student Orientation, you will also learn about the opportunities to continue meeting people, learning more about Monmouth, and making our campus your new home this fall. You will be invited to participate in "Welcome Week," our series of events to celebrate the start of the year and to introduce you to our campus. On our campus, the start of the semester is full of fun, tradition, and excitement. Welcome Week will begin with First Year Move-in Day (Sunday, September 2, 2012) and events continue throughout the first week of classes. At the end of Welcome Week we hope that you will feel connected to our campus and ready to take advantage of the opportunities that will be available to you throughout the year.
Our New Student Orientation program and Welcome Week festivities mark the beginning of your experience as a student of Monmouth University. You will meet the people that will help to make the rest of your journey meaningful. On behalf of everyone involved in these first steps, welcome to Monmouth. We can't wait to meet you.
