Author and mental health advocate Andy Behrman will give a talk on Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. in Wilson Hall Auditorium. Behrman will reflect on his memoir, “Electroboy,” and discuss his personal experiences with mental illness. This event is free and open to the public.
“Electroboy” is Behrman’s chronicle of his battle with bipolar disorder-the euphoric highs and desperate lows. He was misdiagnosed by more than eight doctors and even when he was finally diagnosed with this chronic illness, he was unsuccessful on any regimen of medication. With no hope of his condition stabilizing, he turned to the last resort: electroshock therapy/electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
The memoir will be available for purchase and for signing by the author before and after the speaking engagement from 6 to 7 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
