Over 600 Monmouth University students participated in The Big Event on October 25.  In its 15th year, the student-organized community service initiative celebrated its largest turnout ever.

Students volunteered at 34 worksites to perform community service and help fellow neighbors. Jobs included litter removal, painting, landscaping, and other activities at local businesses and non-profit organizations in West Long Branch, Ocean, Long Branch and Asbury Park including Shore Regional High School, Lutheran Church of Reformation, Long Branch Covenant Church, and Stella Maris Retreat, among others.

"The Big Event is our opportunity to say thanks to our surrounding community for their support and to give back," said 2014 Big Event Chair Alyssa Sardelli.
