A video parody of Taylor Swift’s “22” by Monmouth University senior communication student Lauren Masterson (Farmingdale, NJ) has gone viral with more than 35,000 views on Buzzfeed, a social news and entertainment company with a global audience of more than 130 million.
Masterson produced, directed, and edited her video, “23,” for a class project in Associate Professor Donna Dolphin’s field production and editing course. During the semester, students complete three video projects and learn digital camera operation, aesthetics, field lighting, sound, editing, organizing, and scripting.
“Lauren had a great vision for her project,” says Dolphin. “She really learned throughout the assignment and took a professional attitude by overcoming technical and creative problems. It’s a pleasure to follow her process and see the impressive outcome.”
