Fall Literacy Symposium at Monmouth University on October 18

The Monmouth University School of Education will hold its annual Fall Literacy Symposium on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in Anacon Hall, Rebecca Stafford Student Center. Educators of preschool through 12th grade students can acquire comprehensive techniques and strategies to enhance the teaching of reading and writing and earn professional development hours. A certificate will be awarded to all participants.

The keynote address, Doing Culturally Responsive Literacy, will be presented by Dr. Sonia Nieto, Professor Emerita of Language, Literacy, and Culture, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

There will also be book signings taking place by keynote speaker Dr. Sonia Nieto, as well as Sarah Tantillo, author of THE LITERACY COOKBOOK: A Practical Guide to Effective Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Instruction.

In addition, there will be twelve workshops to choose from on a variety of topics.
