Monmouth University is proud to announce that it will host its 19th Annual Fall Investment Seminar on Thursday, October 17, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in H.R. Young Auditorium, Bey Hall. This event is free and open to the public and will include a light reception at the conclusion of the presentation. Registration is requested by October 11 and seating is limited. The event will be facilitated by Benedicte Reyes, Ph.D., associate professor of finance in the Department of Economics, Finance, and Real Estate, and include two expert panelists.
One of the panelists for the program, Christopher R. Burke, is vice president and director of Domestic Money Markets and Reserves Management Market Group Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Mr. Burke joined the Federal Reserve Bank in 1989, and over the next decade held a variety of operations and project management positions, including helping design and establish the Bank’s contingency site in New Jersey, and primary responsibility for designing and running the Bank’s computer help desk and its first application server farm.
Mr. Burke joined the Markets Group in 1998, where he helped lead the effort to consolidate and replace the Group’s various trade processing systems. He was appointed markets officer in 2000, and in 2003, he joined the Domestic Money Markets Desk as a trader/analyst. He was made head of the Domestic Money Markets Desk in 2005, and promoted to assistant vice president in 2006. In December 2008, he was appointed vice president and director.
The second panelist for the evening, Henry D. Mercer, III, is president and chief investment strategist of Mercer Capital Advisers, Inc. Mr. Mercer began his investment career in 1979 at Tucker, Anthony & R.L. Day, Inc. in New York. Prior to the formation of Mercer Capital, he was president of Mercer, Bokert, Buckman, and Reid, Inc., where he managed the firm’s investment advisory division and edited an investment strategy newsletter, The Mercer Report. He also authors Mercer Capital’s quarterly investment strategy commentary and has been quoted in trade publications such as Barron’s, Forbes, and Fortune.
