MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY’S 2013 SUMMER JEWISH CULTURAL STUDIES PROGRAM

Monmouth University’s Jewish Cultural Studies Program presents a screening of the documentary film “Six Days in June”.  The film screening is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Wilson Hall Auditorium. Dr. Saliba Sarsar will provide a commentary following the film screening. This event is free and open to the public.

The shooting lasted only six tense days in June 1967, but the Six-Day War has never really ended.  Every crisis that has ripped through this region in the ensuing decades stems from those six fateful days.  The region remains trapped in conflict and is every bit as explosive as it was in 1967.   (The Plot Summary is based on IMDb.)

A commentary will be given by Dr. Saliba Sarsar, associate vice president for global initiatives and professor of political science at Monmouth University.  Dr. Sarsar was born and raised in Jerusalem.  At age 11, he lived through the Six-Day War, an experience that has led him to engage in volunteer work as a youth and in later years to focus his studies and community activities on peace building, reconciliation, and interfaith dialogue.

This event is organized by the Jewish Cultural Studies Program and the Office for Global Initiatives and co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County.

Monmouth University appreciates the generosity of a group of Hollywood Golf Club members who enable multi-year support for the Monmouth University Jewish Cultural Studies Program.
