Fieldwork

Fieldwork

A cornerstone of Monmouth’s Master of Social Work program is our vibrant field internship program that enriches classroom learning while preparing you for practice in a remarkable range of fields. We work with roughly 500 agencies and have placements in Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania, throughout New Jersey, in New York City and across the globe.

In any given year, there are 330 Monmouth MSW students in the field assisting individuals, families and communities ― contributing a total of 121,204 hours helping our most vulnerable citizens. It would take a single social worker about 60 years to provide the same amount of service.

Monmouth’s Clinical Practice with Families and Children track offers you many diverse clinical field practicum sites across New Jersey and into New York City and Philadelphia.

Our Global and Community Practice track provides community-based fieldwork domestically and internationally. Internships throughout New Jersey and New York City offer you the ability to work with asylum seekers, refugees, in program development and much more. We also offer eight to 10 week internships abroad in Vietnam, Costa Rica, Chile, Ireland and Bangladesh.

Customized Options

You’ll meet with a full-time field administrator to discuss what skills and experience you want to gain in your internship, and field staff will select agencies for you to interview with. This ensures you will have the opportunity to gain experience relevant not only to your chosen track and class level, but customized to your personal and career interests as well.
