Welcome to the Department of Chemistry, Medical Technology and Physics. We are a dynamic and growing department whose graduates are among the most employable in the sciences. Our chemistry graduates have enjoyed great success in graduate school, professional school, and industrial careers. Our Medical Laboratory Science and Clinical Laboratory Sciences graduates have been much sought after by hospitals and clinical laboratories.
We have a faculty dedicated to educating undergraduate students. All classes are small, the largest enrolling 30 students. This means that faculty are available to work with students in ways that are simply not possible at larger institutions. Our curricula feature extensive hands-on experience in the laboratory and our chemistry program is accredited by the American Chemical Society.
Our faculty members have a wide range of backgrounds and interests: organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. Several of them had careers in industry before coming to Monmouth and are thus well-qualified to advise our students on career options.
Our students are engaged with faculty members in collaborative research programs in their laboratories. We regard this as an integral part of the Monmouth chemistry learning experience. The department has an excellent array of modern instrumentation to support our research and for use in our advanced chemistry courses.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information or have any questions about our department, our majors, or our programs.
