The Office of Counseling and Psychological Services, in co-sponsorship with the Human Relations Advisory Council, annually coordinates a diversity awareness training that is open to all members of the campus community on a first come, first served basis.
On February 29, 2012, the seventh annual program will be offered. This year’s there is “Leap into Diversity”. This interactive program, presented by the American Conference on Diversity (ACD), explores various forms of prejudice, social conditioning and the connections that exist between personal and global behaviors and actions.
Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to create a more inclusive Monmouth University community in areas including ability status, ethnicity, gender, race, body image, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
The training program will enable participants to increase their awareness of how attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and language can affect the relationships between students, staff, faculty, and administrators in our community. They will be encouraged to develop strategies to involve others and increase community cohesiveness on campus throughout the academic year, empowering and motivating all members of the community to be involved.
