• Accrual (PTO) Information - Other Shifts

If your authorized normal work shift is a duration other than 7.25 or 8 hours per day, this page provides you with the information that pertains to your special status.

Please refer to the sections below and select options to obtain more information related to those topics, and how your different amounts will be calculated.

    HOURS TO DAYS CONVERSION

Your accrual (paid-time off) balances were converted from Hawkeye/wIntegrate by multiplying your amounts for each day-type by the length of your authorized normal work shift.

When viewing your current accrual balances at the bottom of your Timecard in the new time and attendance system, you will see the quantities expressed in hours. In order to know how many days this equals, you can divide by your normal shift length or use the handy charts available below.

Please select the one that applies to you. If you are unsure which one to choose, please contact the Office of Human Resources.

    • 5 Hours Per Day

    • 6 Hours Per Day

    • 6.5 Hours Per Day

    • 7.5 Hours Per Day

    • 12.5 Hours Per Day

    MONTHLY ACCRUAL EARNING RATES

Sick leave and vacation time is earned monthly on the employee's anniversary date. Collective bargaining agreements and the non-faculty employee handbook indicate the waiting periods and annual amounts that each employee is eligible to accrue.

You can utilize the following charts to translate the earnings amount from "days per year" and "days per month" to "hours per month" so that you can monitor the quantities of sick leave and vacation time that is reflected in the new time and attendance system. Please select the shift length that applies to you:

    • 5 Hours Per Day

    • 6 Hours Per Day

    • 6.5 Hours Per Day

    • 7.5 Hours Per Day

    • 12.5 Hours Per Day

Please note that amounts that are accrued but not available are displayed like this: 0.00 (+12.08p). The "p" stands for probation.

Earning rates are approximate. These charts reflect work schedules of five days per week. Employees working less than 52 weeks per year will accrue sick leave and vacation time on a pro-rated basis. Leave time is also pro-rated based on the hours per day an employee is authorized to work.
